Before moving into private practice, my primary experience was as a counselor in secondary schools. I enjoy working with young people as they move toward independence, working with them to navigate complex social relationships, the role that social media plays in their life, and helping them sort out who they want to become and how they want to be in the world. I have experience working with gifted youth/young adults and the challenges that come with being in an accelerated academic program. I have created an online environment that meets the needs of the youth that I work with, including the ability to share music, work on projects together, create art, and play games... all directed toward meeting their therapeutic goals.

All of the topics on the "Topics We Might Address During Sessions" list apply to struggles that all humans experience. What we experience as Queer individuals, though, is mediated by the current socio-cultural context we inhabit that decenters Queer people's experiences, creates toxic shame, and limits our freedom. Within a safe and supportive environment in session, you'll be able to focus on your own empowerment within the current context, build a space for centering your well-being, and address any other stuff that might be brining you to therapy too.

There's a reason the aphorism "If you've met one person with Autism...... you've met one person with Autism" is an aphorism. The same is true for people with ADHD. In session, we'll explore your unique gifts, identify areas that you experience as a challenge, and develop a plan that leads with your strengths, acknowledging that you are whole just the way you are right now. In a world that is organized for neurotypical folks, we'll explore making decisions that empower you as to how and when you might choose to use your "masking" skills or how and when advocating for a change to the neurotypical world view is the way you want to go.

What to expect in an Insight Therapy Online Session
The principle that guides therapy at Insight Therapy Online is "unconditional positive regard." In other words, therapy is a judgement free zone... a place where you will feel supported and valued as a whole person just as you are right now. With that said, there may be times when therapy feels a bit uncomfortable; and sometimes through the process you'll be confronted by a disconnect between your thoughts and behavior as they are now and your vision of your ideal self. That's the space where growth happens, and as your therapist, I will be there in session to support you in using that opportunity to grow into the person you want to become.
